Best Advice

Our best advice is to try something and see how it works. Try it ten times. Give the dog time to figure out what you’re trying to do. If it doesn’t work, try to assess if you can improve your delivery. Otherwise just try something else. A good example of trying different methods is our “sit” video – it is perfectly reasonable to teach this simple cue a few different ways. We show two dogs learning sit with three different methods: a butt-tuck, a treat lure and a body block. The dogs react differently and each has a different “favorite” method delivered by the same trainer.
