“Saving SHILOH” by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Review by Pam Marr Rybinski

For young (and older) “Shiloh” fans this soul-searching offering is the dramatic conclusion of the “Shiloh” series by the Newberry Medal-winning author of “Shiloh.” It’s dedicated “To anyone who ever tried to make a difference.” The making a difference part is the driving theme of this follow-up saga of Marty, a maturing boy in Shiloh, West Virginia, and his relationships with his family, friends, his rescued hunting beagle, and some very scary neighbors.

You may want to start off with the first in the series “SHILOH,” then follow up with the second of the series, “SHILOH SEASON,” and read the satisfying conclusion of the saga last. Each book succeeds as a stand-alone suspenseful story, so try any one first, and read on if you’re intrigued.
