Bumi, by West Paw Design

Logan and I discovered a fun new toy – the Bumi – while on our Bar Harbor, Maine vacation. In response to his enthusiasm about the bay behind our vacation house, we set out shopping for a floating dog toy. Naturally, we visited “Bark Harbor” on Main Street in town. The engineer in me came out…I was instantly drawn to this Bumi for its unique construction:

  • jiggly yet holds its shape
  • chewy yet resilient
  • two symmetrical sides for tugging/sharing
  • several places to hold (by mouth or hand)
  • long boomerang shape creates natural propulsion for a long throw

Also, West Paw Design specializes in eco-friendly and made-in-the-USA items, so I was fully satisfied the purchase would not only please Logan, but also support a good company.

Logan was thrilled to retrieve this Bumi from the water, and it was also light enough for him to tote around comfortably while we explored the beach. When he invevitably caught the scent of a red squirrel, and dropped the toy for the greater cause of hunting, finding the toy was no concern – its bright blue color made it easy to spot.

Lastly, while the Bumi is weighty enough to cut through the air for an impressive distance, it is also soft in its contact with the ground. We’ve even enjoyed some tosses across the house. The toy is so easy to clean, I am not concerned about dirt. Furthermore, there is no sign of the Bumi material smudging the floor. Logan and his vacation buddy, Chief, have enjoyed some games of keep-away!
