“What a Difference a Dog Makes” by Dana Jennings

Review by Pam Rybinski

The sub-title to this tribute to the author’s 12-year old, 23 lb. poodle, Bijou de Minuit, is “BIG LESSONS on LIFE, LOVE, and HEALING from a SMALL POOCH.”  Jennings makes public the love and support of his Bijou during near-fatal family health trials. Jennings’ writing style is relaxed and upbeat. He allows “Bijou de Minuit, CANINE ZEN MASTER,” a few words at the beginning of each chapter. Whether meant for those who are considering dog adoption, or for those of us who already sing in the dog-appreciation choir, the book repeatedly makes clear that dogs help people to live in and enjoy the daily pleasures of now.
